Focusing more on bunker balls and short cuts is also a good way to improve your performance. So how should we choose a wedge?
1 LOFT
Generally speaking, loft angles range from 46 degrees to 64 degrees. The first thing to do is to decide on your wedge system, whether to use two wedges or three wedges. How to decide? Generally speaking, there are two methods, one is to judge by the distance of hitting the ball, and the other is to decide by the angle.
The first method is to test the distance between your P and S shots. If the difference is 30 yards, then you need another wedge to make up for the gap in the middle, which is a system of two wedges; If the difference is 50 yards, then two other wedges are needed to make up the distance difference, which is a three-wedge system.
Another way to make a choice by loft is to measure the loft of the P-bar first. The angle of most P bars is 46 degrees. If you want to use a three wedge system, I recommend choosing 50, 54 and 58 degree wedges with 4 degree intervals.
If you want to use a two wedge system, 52 degrees and 58 degrees would be a reasonable match, with an angle separation of 6 degrees. The key to the choice is to keep the lofts of the clubs equally spaced. If the interval is 4 degrees, it is all 4 degrees, and the interval of 6 degrees is all 6 degrees.

2 BOTTOM WIDTH
Wedge soles are available in narrow, medium and wide sole designs and differ in the type of grind. By matching different sole widths and rebound angles, wedges can meet the needs of different terrains and playing styles. Wedges with a narrow bottom usually have a smaller rebound angle, which can cope with hard turf courses, while wedges with a large rebound angle usually have a wider sole to meet softer turf conditions. The mid-width sole is more adaptable for a variety of playing conditions.
3 REBOUND ANGLE
Generally speaking, the bounce angle is from 0 degrees to 14 degrees. You can refer to the selection from the following angles.
Often play hard grass | Often play golf courses with soft ground, or want to play bunker ball |
More inclined to sweep when hitting the ball | More inclined to smash when hitting the ball |
More accustomed to playing lobs | More accustomed to playing low fly |
High ball trajectory | Low ball trajectory |
Not much forward pressure | Likes to hit the ball with the front pressure shaft |
Choose a small bounce angle | Choose a large bounce angle |
